Suo was in a tough position and he didn't know were his opponent was. quickly doing a couple hand signs he created a kage bunshin(Shadow clone) and had the two of them run in separate directions. with his clone heading off by itself he was surprised that he was not being attacked. This meant one of two things, either the person who had attacked him fell for his trick and went after the kage bunshin; or it meant that they had also created a kage bunshin and was tracking both of them.
